Born in 1941, Carl Moore, an accomplished artist, had his first works exhibited in New York City at 'The Griffin', an art gallery/restaurant located in the East 40s near the United Nations. His Impressionistic style paintings were displayed alongside works by established artists, appealing to a sophisticated clientele and encouraging him to explore other genres. At that time, Moore was also working as an interior designer, having graduated from The New York School of Interior Design.
In the late 1970s, Moore relocated to Houston, Texas, where he continued his career in the design field for builders and private clients. This path eventually led to the creation of a successful antiques and decorations business, importing antiques from Europe to Texas, known as Carl Moore Antiques. The business gained worldwide recognition after being featured in national and European editions of design magazines. Despite its success, the company was sold following a serious illness.
In the early 1980s, Moore opened a large art gallery adjacent to his antiques store, showcasing an eclectic mix of 18th and 19th-century art, along with his own large format Impressionist and abstract works. The gallery was a success and well-received by interior designers and private clients alike.
Following his prosperous career and the closure of the gallery, Carl Moore established a working relationship with MAI, a popular designer source for art and furnishings, which continued until he moved to Florida in 2020.
Now retired and devoting his time as a full-time artist, Carl Moore's original oil on canvas works can be found on permanent display at 5 Star Residences of Pompano Beach. He exhibits at various galleries on the Florida East coast and participates in local art shows . He continues to paint and create pieces that reflect his observations of the human condition, as well as provocative Abstract and Expressionist artworks.
Carl Moore is a proud member of the Broward Art Guild and ArtServe in Fort Lauderdale.
